You don't have to be over 30 to call yourself a pro-life activist!  Here are just a couple examples of some great things that have happened this year in schools across the country!

Jason Buck, Pennsylvania

Malvern Catholic Prep School for Men can boast of a "Men for Life" club thanks to Senior, Jason Buck. In response to the horror of abortion and attacks on chastity, Jason has brought together a group of men to stand for the truth.

This stand does not come without attack, outside and within his school. It is not uncommon for the "Men for Life" to be harassed and Jason reports "as often as signs are posted in the halls, they are ripped down."

However, Jason is not deterred. He loves his school and is determined to make it a model of pro-life activity. Jason says "I want to make people see that it is cool to be pro-life. Within a semester our group has come from nothing to having 80 guys sign up for the March for Life. We go to protest at an abortion mill every month and have a real core group of guys."

Jason also realizes that, as a teenager, integral to his pro-life stand is a commitment to chastity. "On valentine’s day we took 200 roses to our sister school Villa Maria and left them on their lunch tables with a message ‘I’m Worth Waiting For’."

On behalf of Priests for Life, Jason, we thank you and Malvern’s Men for Life for your incredible witness to the truth.

Melissa Hughes, Colorado

When Melissa Hughes saw images of aborted babies, she knew that she had to share the truth.  Melissa, an 8th grader in Colorado, spent the last months at her Junior High School showing other students what abortion looked like.

Melissa states that she had always been pro-life, but, it wasn't until she was on our Priests for Life website that she fully understood the horror of abortion.   She came across the section of our site titled, "Show the American People What Abortion Is!"  It was then that Melissa saw the comparison between abortion and the holocaust, and  felt compelled to tell others.

We have all been in classes where the subject of abortion comes up and you hear the "What about rape?" question.  When this happened in Melissa's class, she approached the student after class and asked her if she knew what abortion looked like.  Melissa reasoned that if you are going to support abortion or you think that you would have one, you ought to be able to see the results of an abortion.  With curiosity peaked, the student allowed Melissa to show her the pictures, printed from her home computer.  She reacted in disgust saying that she would never argue for abortion again.

Several other students came to see the images, each one telling Melissa that they were now pro-life.  Melissa even took it one step further by approaching another 8th grade girl rumored to be pregnant.  After learning this girl was in fact pregnant, Melissa explained how their local pregnancy center could help her choose life.

As Melissa prepares to embark on High School, she assured me that she plans to continue to carry her pictures and speak to other students about abortion.  She offers this advice to other students who may be less inclined to speak boldly against abortion: "There are subtle ways to show others you are pro-life.  You can start by putting signs up in your lockers or on your books and explaining why you are pro-life when asked."

We hope that you will follow in Melissa's example and be a courageous witness for life!

John Denton, Texas

Across the country, pro-life student's first amendment rights are being challenged with greater frequency.  John Denton, last year a junior in High School was challenged by school officials who said he could not wear his pro-life shirt stating "Abortion is Homicide."

John recently won the case, and the right to wear pro-life clothing, with the help of the Thomas More Center for Law.  See the press release for more details.
