3,000 Reasons Why This Mom is Loved

Happy Mother’s Day!
Granted, I do understand that it was Sunday, but I just met a lady who can make every day an incredible Mother’s Day. You see, I met Cindy Feldhaus, a remarkable mother of three who would have every right to celebrate the day devoted to mothers even if she had not gone one step further. But somehow she has done just that.
Twenty years ago, Cindy was sitting on her living room couch, nursing her second child. Peacefully wrapped in the blanket of calmness that envelops a new mother, she was brought out of her idyllic moment by the beginning of what appeared to be a documentary.
The documentary began by stating that what the viewer was about to see was the most inhumane treatment of one human being to another in the history of mankind. Cindy did not want to be reminded of what she thought would be a story of the Holocaust, or something else so sad, as she sat with her new baby. But, unable to change the channel, she kept watching. She was shocked to see the upcoming show was about abortion.
The simple act of holding her newborn in her arms compounded for Cindy everything the documentary was stating. And while she couldn’t change the channel, she did change her life. Before the show was over, 28-year-old Cindy was in tears as she prayed that she could help in some way.
And the past 20 years have been an answer to her prayer as well as the prayers of thousands of young girls who have needed help. And help is just what they get from Cindy Feldhaus. Women Exploited By Abortion, a Christian non-profit organization, was founded on the belief that in loving the mothers and fathers of the unborn, one can make a difference for their babies and protect today’s families. This seemed to be a perfect avenue for Cindy to help.
Some of the services provided by WEBA and its volunteer staff are free pregnancy tests, adoption referrals, baby clothing and furniture, parenting classes and various forms of counseling.
But the most important thing WEBA and Cindy offer the young people who come to her is friendship. She becomes a mother figure, guiding young women when they might have no one else to turn to. She has been known to get calls in the middle of the night from desperate girls in various forms of crisis. And she will be there for them. When asked what it is she does for these girls, she answers, "Whatever it takes."
She will go to their houses, if needed. She will go to Children’s Hospital, if needed. She will go to their schools and even police stations, if needed. And Cindy has been needed and needed. And appreciated.
Once, when she gave a young girl an hour of her time and a grilled cheese sandwich, the young woman, through her tears, told Cindy that she was now her very best friend. And this very best friend to many has helped these young women in their deliveries when no one else would have been there for them. The walls of her office are covered with hundreds of baby pictures of all of the children Cindy has helped bring into this world in more than one way.
When asked, Cindy couldn’t recall how many babies she has been in the delivery room for, but could remember that it has been about 200a year for the past 15 years. That comes out to be 3,000 babies and 3,000 mothers who now have a reason to remember Cindy Feldhaus on Mother’s Day.
And thanks to women like Cindy, every day can become a happy Mother’s Day for thousands of women.
