A Pro-Life Forum

Purpose: To demonstrate how abortion has lead us to eliminate 1/3^rd of our generation and touched many of our lives

Note: The Life Teen Organization (www.lifeteen.org) presents "Life Nights" in the format of the Mass (Gather, Proclaim, Break, Send) – This pro-life forum follows the Life Teen format.

Gather

Environment – Set up the three components of the skit (dating game, news anchor desk, and dinner table) so that the teen’s eyes can go from one scene to the next. Darken the room and light up each entity individually during the skit. Decorate the room with large X’s or white crosses.

1^st Scenario – Love Connection

(Girl in seat, 3 bachelor seats, and only 2 men sitting in them) –

Host: Welcome to the Love Connection, We have with us some wonderful contestants tonight, here to find Love! We will get started…go ahead (girl's name)

Girl: Bachelor #1, What is the most romantic thing that you have ever done for a girl?

Bachelor #1: Well baby, between the dozens of roses, candlelight dinners, moonlight serenades, I think that the most romantic thing would be – well I guess, lying to you so that you would pick me.

Girl: Really, okay (puzzled look), well thank you, I guess...Bachelor #2, If you were shipped off to a deserted island and could only bring one item, what would you bring?

Bachelor #2: My Comb, I would have to look good in case you ever showed up to rescue me (combs his hair back)

Girl: Thanks (smiling), I hope that I could rescue you! Bachelor #3, "How would you know that you found TRUE LOVE?" <SILENCE>

Girl: Bachelor #3? Bachelor # 3? Are you there?

Host: I am sorry (Girl's Name) we just received word that Bachelor # 3 is, uhhhh….well…he seems to be missing. There will just be 2 contestants tonight.

LIGHTS move to scenario #2 Newsdesk

"In the news, Since 1973 we have seen a steady increase in rates of child abuse. In addition, school violence is at an all time high…Suicide rates continue to be on the rise and statistics show teen pregnancies are up.

In other news, Cancer in our country has claimed the lives of thousands. In addition, thousands more struggle with the battle to overcome this disease. But today, we have hope because it seems as if a doctor has cracked the code on a cure…(someone hands reporter a message). Reports have just come in that this Doctor is missing. He is the only person holding the key to the cure. We will be back after a commercial break. <Fade Out>

Proclaim – Teaching and Witness

Teaching – Every 3^rd Person is Missing

In 1973 abortion was legalized with Roe v. Wade. This decision took away person-hood from the baby in the womb. It also gave every woman the option to legally abort her child, for any reason, at any time in the pregnancy, even through the 9^th month.

That makes each of us born after 1973 – Abortion Survivors. However, many babies don’t survive. In fact, since 1973 over 41 million babies have been killed in the womb. This means that 1 in 3 pregnancies end in abortion.

Look around the room. For every 2 people here, there should be another person. Another member of the youth group, another football player, another band member, another sibling, another friend. Abortion doesn’t kill tissue - abortion kills babies. Perfectly formed by God, with 10 fingers and 10 toes, with a beating heart and active brain waves – the fetus is just a little tiny person.

Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations."

Psalm 139:13-16 "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."

God has shown us how He has formed us and created us each for a unique purpose. Even from the Old Testament, He says "Thou Shall Not Kill" but yet we continue to allow abortion to occur. We need to be ambassadors for life and change the hearts and minds of the nation.

Witness by a teen or an adult who has had an experience with abortion

Gather the group into several small groups to discuss the following questions:

How did you perceive abortion before this Forum? How do you feel now?
Why do you think that abortion is so common?
What can you do to make a difference?
Wrap up with ideas and suggestions on how to make a positive difference.

Send - Adoration and candle light vigil

Have teen leading a prayer for the aborted children. Lay petitions in front of Jesus for any aborted babies, or people suffering the effects of an abortion.
